Spring 2 

We've had a very busy Spring term here at Thornton! We've had a great time learning about China and tasting Chinese food. We now know lots of facts about China! In English, we've written some great pieces of extended writing, including non-chronological reports. In Maths, we have been problem solving and completing our daily 10 times tables challenges each morning.

We enjoyed our Easter egg hunt and loved our residential where we had the chance to stay at Beaumanor Hall and take part in activities such as archery. We're looking forward to the Summer term!

Year 2 Blog

Hello and welcome to our Y2 blog. We have been learning about writing blogs this term in Computing so we thought we'd give it a go! We have just completed our Christmas Nativity called the Sleepy Shepherd. We had lots of characters, including Jesus, Joseph and Mary. We had to learn lots of lines from our scripts! There were lots of amazing shepherds too and an angel. We loved dressing up in costumes, especially the three kings. The narrators had lots to say and spoke very well! The audience absolutely loved our performances and we spent lots of time practising.

Autumn 1

We have had a fantastic start to Year 2! We've loved being in our new classroom and sharing our news from the holidays. In Science, we have started to explore animals, including humans and have been learning about different offspring. In History, we have begun to learn about the Gunpowder Plot and Guy Fawkes. We think our display looks amazing and we can't wait to carry on learning more!
