Thornton Sport

At Thornton, we’re a very active bunch and often have lots of different sporting events and activities taking place. We run different sporting after school clubs (like multi-sports) and currently have Hinkley Rugby Club in school during lunch and after school, to help teach children key rugby skills.

We’ve enjoyed many different sports outings in recent times. On Friday 8th February, Year 5/6 bravely battled the cold wind and rain to take part in a (fairly muddy) cross country event. Lower down the school, Year 3 had an enjoyable time at the Leicester Tigers tag rugby festival in Birstall on the 27th February. One of our football teams also recently took part in a two-day football tournament over at Leicester Forest East Rugby Club, demonstrating some excellent determination, teamwork and pretty impressive football skills.

We also have many events still to come, with gymnastics, rugby and football events all scheduled to take place in the coming weeks over the spring term. We also have cricket and athletics events lined up for the summer. Exciting stuff!

Sports Buddy Challenge

This term we've been raising money for the NSPCC by taking part in the Sports Buddy Challenge. We all took part in a variety of activities and had a great, active time!

Level 2 School Games Competitions

Throughout the year 2018 - 2019 academic year we will be taking part in different competitive sports against local schools.

We will be adding photos from each of our events here!
