Children experimenting in science

Science at Thornton

At our school, we believe science is all about curiosity, discovery, questioning and most of all hands on fun! The teaching of science at Thornton nurtures curiosity and inspires children to explore the world around them. We provide opportunities for pupils to ask questions, investigate ideas and develop an understanding of how science influences our daily lives. Through practical investigations and engaging lessons, children build knowledge, confidence and critical thinking skills, laying the foundation for future scientific learning and discovery. We aim to nurture a sense of wonder about the natural world, develop scientific knowledge and skills and show how science is connected to everyday life. By making learning fun and hands-on, we inspire children to become confident learners who are ready to explore new ideas and see themselves as the scientists and problem-solvers of the future.
