Our PE curriculum at Thornton aims to enthuse, prepare and support pupils towards healthy and active lifestyle choices.
At Thornton, we believe that physical activity and sport are an essential part of a child’s life and are a key factor in their future well-being. We want every child to find enjoyment in physical activity and aim to provide them with a wide range of opportunities so that they can understand the importance an active lifestyle can have for their physical and mental health. We provide pupils with opportunities to engage in a range of competitive sports and activities; to work and cooperate with others; build self-confidence, resilience and perseverance; develop a sense of fair play; and acquire a range of sporting skills across the national curriculum.
