Mount Cook 2017

Autumn Apple Crumble - today we have been making a seasonal dish of apple crumble. We weighed out the ingredients, peeled the apples and made the crumble with our fingers. Everyone had great fun making their crumble and we are all very excited to eat it!

Today the remaining Year 5/6 children and Year 2 have teamed together to make some bats to send to West Midlands Safari park as part of their World Record attempt.

This week in science we made DNA strands using beads. We followed an algebraic code to create DNA for either a Trout, Chimpanzee, Human or Butterfly.

Birds Beaks testing - We continued to look at how animals adapt to their environment by looking at different types of beaks. We used different utensils to simulate different beaks such as tweezers, coins, spoons, chopsticks and tested to see how well they could pick up different 'foods' like rice, marshmallows, raisins and pipe cleaners. We made predictions about which beak would be best and explored how different birds have adapted their beaks to suit their environment.
